Reflexology

Reflexology had been practiced for thousands of years in Ancient Egypt, India and China when in 1913 this ancient art was brought to the West by Dr. William Fitzgerald under the name of "Zone Therapy" .

In the 1930's Eunice Ingram modified Dr. Fitzgerald's Zone Therapy into what we now know as Reflexology after she discovered that there are zones and reflex areas in the feet and hands that correspond to all glands, organs, parts and systems of the body.

See which part of the body the foot affects

Applying pressure to these reflex areas, using the thumb, finger and hand results in the reduction of stress which promotes physiological changes in the body.

Reflexology is suitable for people of all ages and whilst it cannot be described as a cure-all treatmet it has been shown to be effective in the relief of the following ailments:-

Stress.
Migraine.
Sinus problems.
Back problems.
Breathing problems.
Hormonal imbalances.
Digestive disorders.
Circulatory problems.

During the first session I will discuss areas of your lifestyle in order to assist with the treatment, following this discussion I will work on your feet, or hands if necessary, noting any problem areas.

A typical treatment will last in the region of 60 minutes and during this time you may experience some slight discomfort, this is an indication of congestion or imbalance in a corresponding part of the body. However, in general, the experience will be pleasant and relaxing.

Follow-up treatments can then be arranged depending on your body's needs. I will discuss this with you at the first session.

After the first couple of treatments you may experience feelings of well-being and relaxation or alternatively you may feel lethargic or even nauseous. This feeling is transitory, but does provide me with vital information on how your body is responding to treatment.
