Reflexology had been practiced for thousands of years in Ancient Egypt, India and China when in 1913 this ancient art was brought to the West by Dr. William Fitzgerald under the name of "Zone Therapy" . In the 1930's Eunice Ingram modified Dr. Fitzgerald's Zone Therapy into what we now know as Reflexology after she discovered that there are zones and reflex areas in the feet and hands that correspond to all glands, organs, parts and systems of the body. See which part of the body the foot affects Applying pressure to these reflex areas, using the thumb, finger and hand which may promote balance in the body. Reflexology is suitable for people of all ages and has been claimed to promote well-being. I would ask you to acknowledge human beings are complex. During the first session I will discuss areas of your lifestyle, following this discussion I will work on your feet, or hands if you prefer or if this seems more appropriate. A typical session will last in the region of 60 minutes and during this time you may experience some slight discomfort though, in general, the experience will usually be pleasant. Follow-up sessions can then be arranged depending on your needs. I will discuss this with you at the first session. After the first couple of sessions you may experience feelings of well-being or alternatively you may feel some transitory discomfort which I encourage you to let me know about as this can provide me with useful information. |
